Everyone loves Devon in the spring. Everyone loves baby animals. Add them together and you have the Devon Miniature Pony Centre just 2 miles from Moretonhampstead on the B3212 to Princeton. In the opinion of Cottages In South Devon, this is one of the best run, all-the-year-round attractions anywhere in the county. The Centre has a wonderful collection of ponies, small horses and donkeys as well as a range of farm animals which recently have included two shire horses – real gentle giants.
In addition the kids can enjoy outdoor play facilities and for the rainy days an indoor play fort and a soft play area. For parents and grandparents there is a great cafe serving light meals and an excellent coffee and tea selection. This is one of the best food providers of any of the many South Devon holiday attractions we have visited.
Our visit in Spring was delightful with tiny foals, lambs and even chickens – all there to coo over. Kids can feed the animals under supervision or just stand and watch. A pony ride costs a little extra but to see the look on delighted young faces is well worth it.
This is an attraction that deserves to succeed. It exudes quality. Buildings, paddocks , toilet facilities and play equipment are all extremely well maintained and there was not a piece of rubbish or litter anywhere. For a value for money experience, not cheap but well worth it, spend the afternoon here whatever the weather.
